Question 1
Car accident, the lady hit me.?... I was in a car accident yesterday night I had the right of way and the lady ran into me, she admits its her fault but my insurance wont pay for my damages because I do not have collision but I need to know what is the possibility of her insurance paying for it. I have a 99 ford taurs and all i know right now is the right front tire is completely damaged (that is where she ran into me) we were only going about 10 miles an hour. Anyways I'm freaking out and worried that I will be screwed. This is not my fault and I did nothing wrong
I have state farm and she has geico
I called my insurance and they said I will hear back from my insurance in about 24 hours and from her insurance in about a week...and my father told me not to talk to her insurance to tell them to talk to mine??
Answers
1) Lol just drive it in reverse. It looks the same
Just get a new tyre if thats the only damage. - Morgan
2) Since it was her fault, and you don't have collision to get help from your own company, file a claim with her insurance company to get your vehicle fixed. Make sure they have a copy of your police report also.
They will either fix it, or total it, whichever is the cheaper route for them to take. - oklatom
3) Hopefully you called the police so that a report could be filed. If so then all you have to do is wait for the report. If the lady admitted fault the officer will have made note. Also her insurance information will be on the report. Once you get the report file a claim with her insurance. - Robert
4) If it was indeed the other driver's fault you can file a claim with her insurance company to get your vehicle repaired. If the other insurance company tries not to pay to get your car repaired you might talk with your insurance agent and see if they will help you with them. FYI, you should consider getting collision insurance and liability insurance on your vehicles if at all possible. You should have liability anyway because it is the law. By having collision insurance it protects you should you be involved in an accident where the accident is the other persons fault and doesn't have insurance. It also will cover you with your own insurance company as well if the accident is your fault to. - fortyniner
5) I've been in a car accident before, I know how you feel. Plus waiting to hear from the companies is agonizing and makes you have high anxiety.
You called the police so they filed a report right?
Make sure you have this report and wait to hear from your insurance. The reason why your father said not to talk to her insurance is because they will use ANYTHING you say against you to make it look like your fault. It's a nasty world out there.
So if your insurance denies you coverage, you file a claim with the other insurance company to repair your damages considering you had the right of way. The police report is YOUR proof that you were right. Best of luck! - blooooo

Question 4
What happens if the police stop your car and you don't have paperwork?... In Florida, btw.
Just wondering, what if you're in your car and the police stop you and ask you for your insurance and registration, but you left it at home? What if you have your insurance but not your registration? What about registration but not insurance? Btw, this is assuming you have both, but just not the paperwork with you.
Answers
1) You would go to jail, have your license suspended, and pay hefty fines. - Nooblette
2) You don't need the registration, just insurance with your name on the coverage and a driver's license.
If you do not have your insurance on you, they will give you a ticket, but if you go to the courthouse with proof of insurance, they will waive the fine.
You will NOT go to jail. - Jeremy
3) The law (at least in Texas) is that you have to carry proof of insurance and your license with you at all times while you drive. It's up to the police officer, but he's within his rights to either give you a warning, ticket you, or arrest you. If you get a ticket, it would be dismissed, but only after you go to court, show proof to the court, and pay court costs.
